Types of Pool Table Cloth

Most pool table cloth can be referred to as “felt” as well. It is made up of a combination of wool and nylon. Worsted cloth is recommended as the best type of pool table cloth. The wool goes through a special spinning process that removes the fuzziness from the surface. Worsted cloth is made from longer wool fibers than other woolen fabrics. This creates a smooth, tight surface, that allows the billiard balls to roll smoothly. Worsted cloth results in less maintenance than other billiard cloths.
Standard pool tables use napped cloth that has a loop weave and has a “nap”. This type of cloth requires brushing and more maintenance. Napped cloth may slow the ball down a little bit more than worsted cloth. Teflon treatments can also prolong the life of your billiard cloth. If you are looking for more professional quality for your table, then worsted cloth would be the better purchase.

Championship Billiard cloth, a product we carry, offers a wide variety of colors to choose from. Simonis, the other leading brand we carry, also offers many colors to choose from so that you will have the perfect look for your pool table. Championship offers different blends of wool and nylon to fit your budget. Championship brand cloth can also be tailored to the speed you want on your table. Championship carries hybrid woolen, woolen, and worsted. With worsted being the best quality and superior finish.

Most professional event tables use Simonis 860 because it has the fastest surface. Simonis is made with a tight weave of worsted wool that repels liquids and stains.
